Abstracts
The International Scientific Programme Committee invites you to contribute to the programme by submitting an abstract for possible inclusion in the 8th African Network for Influenza Surveillance and Epidemiology Meeting. Please follow the abstract guidelines below, to help you through the submission process.
Abstracts should be submitted under one of the following theme areas: Abstracts that describe the integration of surveillance systems to include testing focusing on multiple pathogens are strongly encouraged. Please follow the abstract guidelines below, to help you through the submission process.
A brief title that clearly indicates the content of the contribution (maximum of 30 words).
Please avoid abbreviations in the abstract title. Abbreviations may be used if they refer to gene names using the standardised nomenclature, and in the body of the abstract if defined when first used. Do not use capitals or capitalise words that are not nouns.
Example:
Title: This is an important African contribution to the field in terms of the APOL1 gene
Please ensure that your abstract summarises your entire contribution in a maximum of 300 words.
Diagrams, illustrations, tables, references and graphics are NOT permitted.
Abstracts under all topics and without exception should be structured as follows:
Please ensure that your abstract summarises your entire contribution under the following section headings; Background, Methods, Results and Conclusions (maximum of 300 words).
Check grammar and spelling, sentence construction and punctuation before submission. Ensure that abbreviations are defined when used for the first time and then use the abbreviation in the rest of the abstract. Only use abbreviations if the term is used two or more times.
Note: Abstracts not in the correct format will be returned to the submitting author.

After submission of the abstract, a confirmation email will be sent to the abstract submitter. To receive this important communication, please ensure that emails from NOtieno@kemri.go.ke are not considered as spam by your e-mail provider.
For all authors, please make sure that when you make a user and participation profile to attend the conference, you use the e-mail that was used in the abstract submission because that is the only way you can ensure that the abstract is linked to your profile.
